1 This is a highly controversial issue. As a student myself, I often struggle with subjects that I do not enjoy. At the same time, as a person living in a modern capitalist economy, I am strongly motivated to earn a good salary and become a professional in my field. At 41, I can say that it is better to explore areas that you understand and enjoy because you can spend less time and fewer resources developing professional skills. On the other hand, it is quite difficult to be happy if you have a low income and live from one paycheck to another. Having a passion for your profession does not eliminate the financial difficulties associated with a low standard of living. There is a famous anecdote about Einstein's wife, who supposedly said that her husband knew everything about the universe except how to earn money. Although this story may not be historically accurate, it illustrates an important point: professional passion does not always guarantee financial stability. Taking these factors into consideration, I believe that it is better to pursue something you are passionate about, but you should also diversify your risks and develop at least basic skills in areas that directly influence your earning potential.
