Charles-Emile Hermes takes over the House in 1858 from his father Thierry. In 1880, Charles-Elime Hermes, son of Thierry Hermes establishes the Hermes workshops a few streets from the Opera, close to his clients. The address would be an iconic one: 24, rue du Faubourg Saint-Honor. 24 Faubourg will serve as a family home, a workshop and a store for its customers. The Hermes activity is now developed. In 1880, the Saddle workshops activity is added to the Harness workshops. Hermes regularly participates in world fairs: in 1900, after numerous awards, the House is awarded the Grand Prix. It offers the opportunity to gain international fame, by developing an elite clientele in Europe, North Africa, Russia, America, and as far as Asia. |
