Environmental concerns have become one of the most pressing issues of the 21st century. Climate change, pollution, deforestation and the excessive use of plastic affect both nature and people's quality of life. In my view, now is the right time to change our attitude to the planet because environmental problems are becoming more and more noticeable. A recent example that impressed me was the oil spill near Anapa on the Black Sea coast. After two tankers were damaged during a storm in December 2024, a large amount of oil polluted the beaches and created a serious threat to marine wildlife. However, what impressed me most was the reaction of ordinary people. Thousands of volunteers from different parts of Russia came to the affected areas to clean the coastline, remove polluted sand and save birds covered in oil. I believe that this example shows the importance of personal responsibility. Environmental protection is often seen as the responsibility of governments and large organisations, but the events in Anapa showed that ordinary citizens can also make a significant contribution. Although the authorities also participated in dealing with the consequences of the disaster, many volunteers believed that additional support and better coordination were necessary. Their dedication and willingness to help became a vivid example of civic engagement. Personally, I believe that every person can contribute to protecting the environment. We can recycle waste, reduce plastic use, save electricity and make more environmentally friendly choices in everyday life. These actions may seem small, but together they can make a significant difference. To conclude, protecting the planet is no longer simply an environmental issue but a question of our future. The story of the volunteers in Anapa proves that people are ready to act when nature is in danger. In my view, real change begins when people understand that they are responsible for the world around them. |
